SimpleScalar binaries
The SimpleScalar tool set is a system software infrastructure used to build modeling applications for program performance analysis, detailed microarchitectural modeling, and hardware-software co-verification. Using the SimpleScalar tools, users can build modeling applications that simulate real programs running on a range of modern processors and systems.
We use this tool in our school in the “Computer architecture” labs , But the problem is that the most of students prefer working on their own laptops even they dont know how to compile such tool in Linux or Windows.
So after many asks from my colleague i decided to share the binary version of this tools to all the world
You can find in the attechement the tool bianries for the different plateforms and architectures
The packages contain the tools needed to emulate the PISA, ARM, and x86 instruction sets (for the moment the ALPHA instruction sets is not available for the windows version).
I hope that those files will be usefull for you even you are an Esi student or not.
CommentsSabily 9.10 -Gaza- released

The Sabily Team is proud  to announce the release of Sabily 9.10, codenamed “Gaza”. Sabily is the new name of Ubuntu Muslim Edition, the Operating System designed by and for Muslims.
This new version is available as a Live DVD (so you can test it without installing anything on your computer), with 2 versions:
- Small version (1 GB): contains the main Sabily packages (artwork, islamic applications) and Arabic support.
- Full version (2.8 GB): same as above plus multimedia, education and miscellaneous packages, besides offline Quran recitations provided by www.versebyversequran.com : Muhammad Siddeeq al-Minshawi, Huzify, Sa’ad al-Ghamadi and Mishary Rashed Alafasy
- Note: the offline recitations are useful if you are not connected to the Internet (all Sabily versions provide online recitations).
You can read more about the release notes on the official web site.
As a team member i have to prepare the Windows installer basing on Wubi (the ubuntu windows installer) But I have choose to don’t include this application in the official DVD for many stability reasons. And may be in the next release nchalah it will be included by default with some of other contributions that i am working on since few months.
barakallah fi all the team that participate in this work.

Libitl and iTools on Windows
I have been quite busy in the last few week migrating some arabeyes libraries to windows.
Starting with ibitl, a library that allows applications to convert between Hijri and Gregorian dates and to compute Muslim prayer times and Qibla direction based on multiple methods of calculation , this library has a high level of accuracy..
Then i moved to itools, a collection of command line tools that mimics the development of the underlying ITL library (libitl) and is meant to always give the end-user simple means to access its functions. Available tools include ical (displays a Hijri calendar), idate (a multi-method Hijri/Gregorian date converter), ipraytime (a prayer times and Qibla calculator and schedule table generator). These two projects are part of the Islamic Tools and Libraries project at arbeyes.
I’m also working on Minbar a Gnome Prayer Application that uses these libraries .
At the moment just the binary files and the LibItl shared library will be available for download. You nedd the pwd library to run the iprayer command. If you have any problems, I will be happy to know about them.
The Libitl :
the itools :
You can find the original sources and Linux binaries here, or visit http://wiki.arabeyes.org/ITL for more information ..
CommentsThe Sabily-wininstaller for test
I have just recompiled the wubi installer to work with Sabily (Ubuntu ME). This version works with the Tayba version (9.04) just for test
Please test it and report about your experience. It is recommended to let it download the ISO for you.
The files in the .disk folder on the LiveCd must be configured because the installer retrieve information from it !!
I also need -if you can- some artwork like the header and icons for each type of sabily DVDs (Small ,Full and Full with recitations..)
You can download the binary file from this link. The application accept the –test parameter for test and it save a log file in the temporary folder.
I am waiting for your feedbacks on sabily.team newsletter
CommentsThe Sabily-wmenu for UbuntuMe
This week i have subscribed to The Sabily project , a Linux distribution designed by and for Muslims. Like our distribution (EsiTux) it is based on the popular Ubuntu Linux distribution , so i found that i can work on both projects at the same time.
I am helping in the development of the next version (gaza 9.10), and currently i am taking two tasks: the windows cd menu (Sabily-wmenu) and the Windows installer(Sabily-wininstaller).
I have finished the first task based on the ubuntu menu (umenu) source code .I have modified the strategies of this application to load external configurations and skins so any one can customize this tool without recompiling the source.
you can found the source code on this bazar branch :
https://code.launchpad.net/~sohaibafifi/esitux/Sabily-wmenu
using this command:
bzr branch https://code.launchpad.net/~sohaibafifi/esitux/Sabily-wmenu
or from the google code svn server using:
svn checkout http://esitux-wmenu.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ esitux-wmenu-read-only
The program is developed using NSIS (A scriptable win32 installer/uninstaller system. from Nullsoft) to compile the tool just type these commands:
#make prerequisites #make all #make debug
Currently I am working on Sabily-wininstaller and I finished almost 80% of the source
